Great live music; a Memphis BBQ Network- sanctioned barbecue competition
with ribs, shoulder and whole pig; and an assortment of other tasty
treats and crafts in a scenic outdoor setting in the Upper Connecticut
River Valley……
can it get much better than that?
(Hint - nope!) |
Come join us at the North Haverhill Fairground, North Haverhill, New
Hampshire. Our grand champion BBQ team will get a slot at next year’s
World BBQ Championship in Memphis. We expect some serious competition
among barbecue enthusiasts hoping to win this spot.
Congratulations to Bare Bones BBQ, our 2008 Grand Champion! They are
going to Memphis!!
A full-day of live music kicks off with the Chris Kleeman band playing
a set of blues beginning at 12:15. The Stone Cold Roosters will
be here with a blend of Western swing, country, honky-tonk and blues,
and one of the Upper Valley’s best dance bands, Dr. Burma,
will bring its rhythm-and-blues act to the stage late in the day.
All day long there will be authentic BBQ on sale, including ribs,
brisket, chicken, pork and chili, along with the traditional barbecue
side dishes. Several other vendors will provide an assortment of
other tasty treats as well.
Then, after the formal judging is completed (around 4 p.m.), taste
and judge the finished product from our competition teams until
the meat is gone. Cast your vote for your favorite in the People’s
Choice contest.

Keep your eye out throughout the day for contestants in our ‘Ms.
Piggie Contest’. This contest is being co-sponsored by Bradford's
own Old Church
Community Theater. Entry is open to anyone, regardless of age
or gender. Come root (pun intended!) for your favorite.
Local and regional artisans will be on hand to display and sell their
wares. We'll get a list up here as soon as we know more.
Look for our many raffle prizes (our 2008
winners are also posted here), donated by our local merchants. Tickets
will be available in advance as well as on the day of the festival.
You don't have to be present to win.
The highlight of the day will come around 6:30 p.m. when we announce
the BBQ contest winners and present the Chamber Showcase Raffle prizes.
Last year we had several spectacular prizes including a great recliner
that this author spent at least part of the day peacefully sleeping
in.
- The gates will open at 11 a.m.
- No alcoholic beverages will be served
nor are they allowed on the site.
- Admission to the festival will
be $12.00 for those over twelve years of age.
- Food and beverage purchases
are not included in the admission charge.
- Admission does include the opportunity to sample
lots of excellent ‘pig’ on a first-come, first-served
basis, beginning as soon as the formal judging is over (about
4 p.m).
