nationally-sanctioned ribs,
shoulder and whole pig
bbq competition

6th Annual
Sunday, August 10th, 2008 From Noon until 7 p.m. or so
North Haverhill Fairgrounds, North Haverhill, NH.

We encourage you to consider becoming a BBQ team at our Whole Hog BBQ & Music Festival. The North Haverhill Fairgrounds provides a lovely, country setting for this festival. This is a family-friendly, no-alcoholic-beverages-served event, (but we’re looking at possible micro-brewer partnership opportunities in the future). Last year’s transition from Bradford to this site seemed to work well and we anticipate a bigger and better BBQ competition and festival this year. As one of 60 sanctioned Memphis BBQ Network contests in the country, and the only one in New England, the Whole Hog BBQ and Music Festival should attract greater numbers of serious competitors and festival-goers than ever before (we’ve averaged nearly 1000 attendees in the first five years of the event). If you have been with us at other events, we appreciate your past support and hope you will consider participating again this year.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
  • The overall winner of the contest will receive an opportunity to compete at the MBN (Memphis BBQ Network) World Championship in Memphis in 2009. Frank & Mary Horner are scheduled to be our MBN contest reps again this year.
  • This will be a sanctioned ribs, shoulder and whole hog BBQ competition.
  • Whole hog and shoulders will made available for sampling on a first-come, first-served basis following the formal judging. A People’s Choice award will be made based on this sampling.
  • See the team application for entry fees.
  • On-site camping accommodations for Saturday and Sunday nights are provided for competing teams as part of the entry fees.
  • Admission to the festival is $12 for those over 12 years of age ($10 pre-sale) and six passes will be sent to each competing team. Enclosed you will find the contest application and the specs on the cuts of meat.
  • The Memphis BBQ Network has more details about the sanctioned competitions.
