Take a stroll through some of the area's most beautiful private gardens.
12th Annual Cohase Chamber Garden Tour
The Cohase Chamber of Commerce Garden Tour will be held on Sunday, July 21st this year,
starting in Bradford (VT) at the Wells River Savings Bank office at 9 N Main St.
This fun self-guided tour (maps and descriptions available at the start point) from 11 a.m to 3:30
p.m. will take visitorsto five charming gardens and an ‘art-barn’ through the Cohase region.
With beautiful views and ‘off-the-beaten path’ scenery, the drive between properties is as
enjoyable as the gardens, taking you down old country roads, and climbing into the hills, where
unique gardens have been created by their owners. Traveling between all five sites will involve
about 25-30 miles of driving.
One beautifully-manicured property is at the very top of a hill, with 360* wrap-around views of
the valleys and mountains. Another, created over many years, features a multitude of
interesting shrubs, trees and perennials, and will have some plants for sale. A large hillside
garden offers a chance to wander through the meandering paths featuring “collections” of
specific plants and berry varieties. An old farmhouse and it’s rambling gardens will guide you
between the house and a large antique barn where you may peruse the artwork of the owner.
And a rustic country property with fairly new gardens features wonderful use of “locally-
sourced” elements, such as the large accent stones harvested on the property.
Tickets are $20 per person(free for kids under 12)and can be purchased ahead through the
Chamber website or at the starting-point on the day of the Tour. For more information, go to
the Chamber website (www.cohase.org) or call 802-866-3320. This is a ‘rain-or-shine’ event.
Thanks to sponsors North Country Organics, N Haverhill Agway, Citizens Bank NA, Woodsville
Guaranty Savings Bank and Wells River Savings Bank for their support of the Chamber and this
